As the Season Ends, the Fun Begins! Print E-mail

The holiday season ends officially on October 31st, but that doesn't mean everyone here in the north of Mallorca puts on their slippers and hibernates for the winter! Quite the contrary.

Apart from official fiestas such as Pollensa's Trade and Craft Fair (November 9th-12th), Halloween (always a great excuse for a fancy dress party) and All Saints Day, local residents can indulge in all manner of activities.

Already several bars in Pollensa and the port have arranged a winter-long darts tournament, and individual bars in the Alcudia and Pollensa areas are organising quiz, bingo and live music nights. For the energetic, the Corsaris Rugby Club in Alcudia is looking for players (see www.corsaris.com or go along to Alcudia sports centre any Tuesday or Thursday between 9pm and 11pm to see them train), and of course ESRA members can enjoy petanca, scrabble and dance classes.

The Winter in Mallorca series of concerts gives everyone a chance to soak up a bit of culture, and there are bazaars (ESRA bazaar on November 18th, Josefina's Animal Refuge bazaar in the first weekend of December, both in the Santo Domingo Cloisters, Pollensa) and other events (don't forget the Old Tyme Music Hall in Club Cultural, Puerto Pollensa on October 26th!).

Then, before you know it, it will be Christmas, New Year, the Three Kings Parade and San Antoni Bonfires. Phew, where are those slippers, again?
