Helping Hands Keep on Giving Print E-mail

The deeply caring nature of local residents is coming to the fore again (though it never really goes away) with Christmas looming and yet more charity events on the cards to provide winter entertainment for many and a helping hand for those in need.

The Anglican Congregation of St Andrew's has designated the Residencia home for the elderly in Pollensa as its charity for the year and has held several events to raise funds. Recently the congregation enjoyed a Harvest Supper at the Hostal Paris in Puerto Pollensa with everyone providing different plates of food for all to taste. Organisers Bernadette Choules and Kate Brooker were proud to raise 500€ at this event. Reverend Michael Redfearn and Church Warden Geoff Thomas were also pleased to take to the Residencia produce donated at the church's Harvest Festival service. (see photo). The Congregation's next fund-raiser is an Old Tyme Music Hall .

But that's not all, the giving just keeps going on! Salvatex, the Salvation Army charity shop in Puerto Pollensa, is once again organising a Christmas "shoebox" appeal to help the children at the Llar de Menors children's home in Pollensa. And the ESRA bazaar on November 18th will be raising funds for two very worthy causes.
